Sonic eXtended Genesis, widely known as Sonic XG, is one of the most historic and influential fangame projects from the Sonic Retro community. Originally created in 2001 by Euan "Sir Euan" Gallacher and Joseph "Nitemare" Waters, the game was designed to capture the essence of the classic 16-bit Mega Drive era, featuring refined physics, all-new sprites, and original zones.
