Makoto Shishio

 



Makoto Shishio is the main antagonist of the "Kyoto Saga" in the manga and anime Rurouni Kenshin (Samurai X). He is widely considered one of the most iconic villains in shonen history. Shishio succeeded Kenshin Himura as the swordsman (hitokiri) of the imperial forces. Because he knew too much about the dirty secrets of the new Meiji government, he was betrayed, shot in the head, and burned alive by his own allies. He survived the burns, but his body was left covered in scars and without sweat glands. To survive, he wears bandages all over his body, giving him a mummy-like appearance. Author: ZoneSeven
