Kenshin Himura

 



Kenshin Himura is the protagonist of the manga and anime Samurai X (known in Japan as Rurouni Kenshin), created by Nobuhiro Watsuki. His birth name was Shinta, but he was renamed Kenshin ("Heart of the Sword") by his master, Hiko Seijūrō. During the Bakumatsu era, he was the feared assassin Hitokiri Battōsai, whose skills with the Hiten Mitsurugi-ryū style were crucial to the fall of the shogunate and the beginning of the Meiji era. Haunted by the deaths he caused, Kenshin vowed never to kill again and began wandering Japan as a rurouni (wanderer), protecting the innocent with a Sakabatō (reverse-blade sword). Author: ZoneSeven
