His secret identity is Peter Parker, a New York teenager who, after being bitten by a radioactive spider, gains spider-like powers. The character's story is marked by tragedy, as he learns the lesson that "with great power comes great responsibility" after the death of his Uncle Ben, an event caused by his own negligence.
