Steel is a DC Comics character whose real identity is John Henry Irons, a brilliant engineer and inventor who became an armored superhero inspired by Superman. The character was created by Louise Simonson and Jon Bogdanove, making his first appearance in The Adventures of Superman #500 in 1993. John Henry's successor, his niece Natasha Irons, also took up the mantle of Steel. Author: Shin Maker
